Just a little bit obsessive..

I am into cards and invitations. I mean, really into them. I love choosing them, addressing them, and creating a little assembly line of stuffing envelopes, affixing stamps, and return address labels puts me into a state of bliss. It is immensely satisfying when the invitation, address label, and stamp all come together. At least two months ago, I found the perfect invitation for Finn’s upcoming birthday party. With his simply adorable address labels they were sure to delight. The invites were all ready to go, however, I was not happy with the American flag stamps we had on hand, nor any of first class stamps at the post office for that matter. So I went online, where l fell in love with the Thanksgiving Day Parade tribute stamps. I ordered them right away, even with the concern that the party date was drawing near, and wasn’t this kind of crazy since I already *had* stamps – because these invites really needed to go out post haste. But the allure of the matching stamp-card-address label was irresistible. Four days passed, and with no arrival of the stamps, and I knew I needed to just go ahead and get them in the mail. It pained me to affix the ordinary put-me-on-a-bill-looking American flag stamp to the invites. I slowly peeled off each stamp and breathed a heavy sigh as I placed it in the upper right hand corner of the envelope. After I’d placed stamps on all of the invitations, imagining the disappointment of the recipients, I went to the mailbox and with one final sigh lifted the lid and dropped them all in.

Just a little peek into the insanity in which I dwell.

Of course later that day I received my stamps.
